JC Penney and Seventeen Magazine are going VIrtual! Taking on augmented reality to give customers a fun, digital experience. you won't have to mess your hair up trying clothes on anymore!
The steps are simple:

2. Load JC Penny's Online Virtual Dressing Room
3. Stand in front of your computer and enjoy the fun in the comfort of your home!
Using a technology called metaio, users can stand in front of the computer, no special printed markers needed, image recognition algorithms take over. This collaboration with Seventeen Magazine allows teenagers (or anyone) to virtually try on clothes via a markerless augmented reality website.
Kristine Welker, vice president of sale and marketing for Hearst Magazines Digital Media, says, "With the help of our exclusive retail partner JCPenney, the virtual dressing room makes online shopping easy and viral: with a simple wave of a hand, shoppers can select, rate and share their top picks with friends via Facebook or email, and even purchase the items directly from jcp.com.”
Halensteins New Zealand has also taken the step into the virtual world.
Halensteins Virtual Changing Rooms have been transformed into a single panel reflecting users who can simply use arm and hand gestures to browse, and 'try on' any apparel in the store.
A perfect way to intrigue and wow your customers is to offer them a seamless advanced technology that is easy, convenient, fun and taking them to another level of satisfaction. As more and more retailers are taking the digital road, it is obvious that this form of marketing and/or advertising is the right way to go. Who knows what new technologies will come up in the near future, but getting yourself in the loop with the current and ever improving digital interactive media is vital!
